July is National Grilling Month so we’re ready to celebrate the world of grilling and outdoor cooking!
One of the best things about designing a custom home is that you can create exactly what you want. You don’t have to fit your life around a generic cookie-cutter house. You can be creative, innovative, and in control.
Outdoor living means you build a space outside for sitting, eating, cooking, or playing. It can be as simple as a grill or firepit on a patio. Or you may go for total luxury with a full outdoor living room, dining room, and even an outdoor kitchen. Many people include entertainment options like TVs and even colorful LED lighting for a celebratory atmosphere.
Some people use large glass sliding doors that open up the inside of the house to an outside screened-in porch or back deck to make the outdoor and indoor areas become one beautiful, cohesive space.
Outdoor living is more popular than ever and many people dream of having the ultimate backyard kitchen for hosting and entertaining friends and family.
An outdoor kitchen may simply consist of a grill and counter space for food preparation. But it could also involve outdoor kitchen appliances like refrigerators, cooktops, and other cooking equipment like smokers. You may decide to include cabinetry for storage and even a sink.
You could have all the amenities of an indoor kitchen outside so you don’t even have to make any trips into the house.
Combine the outdoor kitchen with outdoor living spaces like outdoor living rooms and in-ground pool areas for a home that is party-central for your family and friends.
Winters are fairly mild in South Carolina. Even though there may be some chilly days that get to about freezing, there is rarely any snow or ice. So an outdoor kitchen could easily be used in every season here in the Midlands of SC.
Because the summers tend to be warm and there are often evening thunderstorms, a covered outdoor kitchen may be a great investment. Then you don’t have to worry about the weather interrupting your plans. And you’ll have cover from the heat of the summer sun, as well.
You may even want to add some ceiling fans or even a misting fan to keep everyone cool and comfortable in the kitchen, eating, and sitting areas.
